Michael MacLean is an artist and designer currently living in Dawson City, Yukon, working with the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Youth Services (in community engagement, project coordination, and design consultation). Michael has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from Concordia University. Within both his art and design practices he strives to work closely with communities, bringing them into the process. Originally working in media and sculpture, his work attempts to mix contemporary and traditional technologies in art and design. His work is influenced by his rural Quebec upbringing and time spent in northern Canada. He is interested in how narratives of isolation in rural communities and urban cityscapes influence life, design, and the arts.
